Stream / lake Champlain

All UFO's needed to be finished this week so I valued bring as many items to the fair to sell.

More paint was added to the stream and then quilted with white thread in the white parts of the water. It's about 11" square so I mounted on a painted 12" canvas.

Doesn't the sound of water soothe your soul? It does mine.

This has been in the drawer for over a year. It's very small and only had the lake but I added a cairn and once mounted on black canvas it really pops and shows off the beautiful colors. And added one of my favorite quotes by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Speaking of lake Champlain I am leaving today for a camping / family reunion on the lake at Ausable Point. My favorite place to go on the lake over on the New York side near Plattsburg and the weather is supposed to be sunny, high 70's low 80's. Can't get much better than that !

Have a wonderful week :-)

Journals

It's back to school time!

And what does that mean to me? Well school supplies are on sale of course.

Staples has composition books, full size for 50 cents @ so I went to get a bunch for journal/ notebook making. They also had small bottles of Elmer's washable glue for 25 cents that even includes a glue stick!

The county fair is next week so I want to get a few done to put in the craft area to sell.

This one is full size

As is this one. The words don't show up but they are listen, think, write, learn

This the back of a smaller one. I used a scrap of sun printed ferns I made a few years ago.

Here is the front. These are excellent for FMQ practice.

And for using scraps of fabric that you love but can't figure out what to do with.

So go check out the stores for quilting school supplies -

It's the most wonderful time of the year :-)

Stream painting - web streamlining

Nothing finished this week

To busy enjoying this

And this

I do have something in progress though. I tried to add white paint to make the stream look like it is running fast and foaming over the rocks. Looks good here when the paint it's wet.

But once dry - it fades a lot so I suppose I should add more. Should I quilt the water? If so do I use white or blue thread? Before or after I add more paint?

The other thing I'm stewing about is this I made a few weeks ago. I feel it needs something more but can't figure out what.

I am jazzing up the branches by couching on some mossy looking yarn but what after that?

What would you do?

I think I'll sleep on it

:-)

Hummingbirds

This weeks project is the ever popular hummingbird. They can't help but put a smile on your face if one is lucky enough to see one. They hover over our flowers in the summer drinking the nectar. The little wings go so fast you can't even see them. They love bee balm and so do I so that the flower I chose for my quilt.

I use parchment paper to build my fusible "bird parts"

Once ironed and fused you can pick up the parts and move them around.

A hummer on a bright sunny day

Or on a moonlit evening.

Still working on this one but close enough to show you.

Do you have hummingbirds in your yard?
